New Google Rules Video Training

Due to the recent post I made, I think some people may feel I’m totally down on Google. That actually isn’t so. The reason of my last post is certainly show a level of disappointment with Google and their inconsistencies in reviewing websites. I’ve stated for the better part of a year the reason I feel the Internet Marketing community has trouble with Google is not only content and I’ll get to that later but really the way in which we display our information.

The days of a one page sales letters or even a one page video sales letters as far as advertising on Google Adwords is basically done. Sure you may get away with it for a time, but for the most part you’re going to need more content and I believe they want use to be more mainstream with more content.

As many of you know I do a training seminar called Armand Morin LIVE where I go into great detail of various advertising methods. Bing, Facebook and yes Google as well. I just updated one of my presentations and shortend it for Internet viewing because it can get quite long. I felt it would be appropriate considering the interest in the last post.

The video below is a 40 minute training on what Google wants. The key here is that the majority of the video is me reading Google’s own rules with my interpretation. Is it perfect? NO, but I wanted to get something up quick so people have an understanding of what is going on.

Here’s the video… Enjoy!

    Armand,

Thanks for the video — another example of how you’re a cut above the common money-grubbing IM gurus who only seem to talk when they’re selling. I took a bunch of notes that I’ll be using to tweak my landing pages.

That was an awesome video! My account got banned too late last year, and at first I thought well screw Google, who needs them anyway.

But the reality is, Adwords is still a great marketing tool and I guess we all just have to shut up and change the way we sell online to make Google happy..

Hey Armand, wow, I love how you always help us by keeping things easy to understand and the examples you gave helped solidify/imprint your lesson.
You are a great example of my rendition of this old adage, success leaves tracks:
“Success leaves tracks. Follow these and widen the trail.” -Dusty
The changes are so easy to implement, thanks!

Google also recently updated their keyword tool to reflect more (accurate) monthly searches.

Many of the new updated search counts are a lot lower than anyone ever expected. It seems like they’re being a lot more transparent with their numbers now.

This will affect anyone running SEM or PPC campaigns. Here’s the orignial article on Search Engine Watch:

Hi Armand, great information I got my Adwords account banned last year. As usual got some great tips and found some things I have been missing out on many of my websites. Thanks for taking the time to share this highly relevent information..

    Have an Awesome Day

Thanks Armand, finally somebody clears out some things in a way everybody can understand (Google can learn from this 😉

Especially the explanation for the optin pages was very useful. Many advertisers believe optinpages are doomed, but you prove this isn’t the case. Thanks again and looking forward to a new video once Google replies to your questions

Thanks so much for this information…as always, you are on top of the game. Giving an honest opinion and understandable information is one of your many strong points.

I think we should all rethink our marketing strategies and use the alternatives you speak of (Bing, etc) as a part of our marketing from now on even though what Google is asking is just common sense.

Thanks again, and I will be looking forward to more information from you.

    Dear Mr.Morin

Please correct me if I’m wrong – with respect to your suggestion of a 2-click order for an upsell, wouldn’t it appear to conflict with Point No.3 in the Relevancy Original Content slide where the user is supposed to be directed to the advertised product and not to “other products”?

I could only see your illustrated example of the diet program to be the most effective bypass of Google’s rule.

Thanks for taking the time to help your Customers. It has been a joy doing business with such a professional organization. I have spent over $2500 for your services and If I had to do it all over again knowing what I know now. I would do it in a minute.

Thanks Armand for taking the time to research this, I was wondering why google all of a sudden would discredit my optin landing pages through ppc and makes sense. I hate the fact that they are changing the rules that worked so well for the niche markets, but that’s just google.

What is so dumb is they know you are advertising with them in order to sell something, why give us all these rules just so we can ultimately see (optin or sales)? It’s like going to the ice cream guy for a one scoop but he has to shine your shoes in order to make the sales. Just utter and ridiculous rules.

    Armand

Great contents for your clients as usual! You’ve helped me to be aware with the rules of the game.

    Thanks

Good review of Google’s changes. I’ve been dealing with these policy changes for almost a year now. More difficult, yes, but not insurmountable.

I doubt the 2 Click option will work for long, however. You are taking personal information on a page that is not secure.

The order form doesn’t need to be on the same domain, it simply needs to reside on a domain that is ONLY used for order taking / credit card processing and it not a portal / shop for additional products and services. I went to the Diet Solution site you mentioned and they link directly to a full order form on clickbank. That’s secure and totally legit in Google’s eyes.

Hi Armand, there’s a few of us ex-corporate types (I was a Regional IT Manager) gotten into AdWords, and since I’ve been in it since 2004 managing other people’s accounts as an Agency Partner of Google (with my own support team there since 2007), I’ve seen many changes which have *not* come as a surprise.

And in fact Google do tell you both directly, and not so directly what they are about and what they (in other words their users) really want.

Some of them are hidden in plain sight and subtle.

For instance, when creating a new account and campaign, why do they say (1) write ads (2) write keywords (3) your ads run?

Because they are looking for real live business owners, with goods and services to speak about, not speculators just trying to jump on the latest bandwagon by doing keyword “research” first because they haven’t got a clue what they should be marketing.

Page and Brin designed a machine based on the citation model of publishers (think bibliography where you reference everyone elses work) which rates relevance according to authority and popularity – not what can be bought like paid link exchanges (how contrived is that?)

I talked about the impending death of info marketing clickbank style back in March at Perry Marshall’s Maui summit, and it has since been borne out. If you had anything useful, relevant and original *it would rank already* and not be behind some walled garden paywall like clickbank.

The real thing to watch these days is *physical product*. This is bulletproof. If you’re selling hard goods for real (other than by affiliating or drop shipping) then Google Product Search based on feed management is the way to go.

Sorry for the rant and I hope its useful and of interest!

Wow, times are a changing fast..thanks Armand for your overview update here…i had originally seen you at Success Mania 2005 & spoke to you briefly as I was from Australia attending the event in Atlanta Georgia. After many health/life challenges I am now rebuilding my life and hearing what you shared 5yrs ago and now what you share is absolutely invaluable – you continue to cut to the point and are on the ball always in play – you’re a gem. This info gets me up to speed to today’s times to start and stay in the game.
    Many thanks.
p.s. looking forward to seeing you LIVE again this time in Sydney at the end of the month 😀
    safe travelling champ!

Armand great video – i have recently had my account permanently suspended so this really has helped me to understand the possible reasons as to why. Google havn’t bothered to reply to my support emails, so this has been a real eye opener

    very helpful, all the best
